In July 2025 Hobart and Penny Simons undertook a residency at Watershed Studios, Galway Ireland. They developed the ideas for the project firstly out of workshop in Kiola NSW. In this phase of the project they conceived of a residency based on a term they coined called Ancestral Sculptural Storytelling. This involved creation sculptural installations that acted as stages for a storytelling performance. The content would be derived from a combination of folk legends that were retold through an ecological lens. The idea was to examine the direct connection and stewardship of the land. The over arching concept being that late twenty first century culture has removed itself from a spiritual connection to the land. Land becomes a commodity not natural resource shared with all living creatures.
